About

As I embarked on my journey to Kidepo Valley National Park and Karamoja, I felt a thrill of excitement. The remote and breathtaking landscapes of northeastern Uganda beckoned, promising an unforgettable adventure.

Day 1-2: The Long Drive to Kidepo

I set off from Kampala, leaving the bustling city behind. The 10-hour drive to Kidepo Valley National Park was arduous, but the scenery gradually shifted from urban to rural, and finally, to the majestic savannah. I arrived at Apoka Lodge, my home for the next two nights, and watched the sunset over the rolling hills.

Day 3-4: Kidepo's Wild Beauty

The next morning, I ventured into the park, witnessing the stunning beauty of Kidepo Valley. The game drive revealed an abundance of wildlife: lions, leopards, elephants, and antelopes. I visited the Kidepo River and Narus Valley, marveling at the unique landscape. The local Karamajong community welcomed me with a vibrant cultural performance.

Day 5-6: Moroto's Mountainous Charm

I drove to Moroto, a town nestled at the foot of Mount Moroto. The scenic views from the top were breathtaking. I explored the surrounding landscape, interacting with the local Karamajong people and learning about their rich culture.

Day 7-8: Kotido's Hidden Gems

In Kotido, I discovered the Bokora Wildlife Reserve, teeming with wildlife. I wandered through the town's vibrant markets, absorbing the local colors and sounds.

Day 9-10: Kaabong's Serene Beauty

Kaabong's tranquil atmosphere enveloped me as I explored the Kidepo River and surrounding landscape. The local Karamajong people shared their stories and traditions.

Day 11-12: Nakapiripirit's Mountainous Splendor

Nakapiripirit's rugged landscape and Mount Napak's majestic peak left me awestruck. I immersed myself in the local culture, learning about the Karamajong people's resilience.

Day 13-14: The Return Journey

As I began my journey back to Kampala, I reflected on the incredible experiences of the past 14 days. Kidepo and Karamoja had revealed their hidden treasures, and I had fallen in love with the wild beauty of northeastern Uganda.
